Senior technology executive leaves Fidelity

BOSTON, April 2 (Reuters) - Jeff Neufeld, a seniortechnology executive at Fidelity Investments, is leaving, theworld’s top mutual fund company said on Wednesday.

Neufeld, who has been chief information officer atFidelity’s Institutional Products Group since 2003, willretire, Fidelity spokesman Vin Loporchio said. Neufeld joinedFidelity in 2000.

The Institutional Products Group serves the banks, brokerdealers and investment advisers Fidelity works with.

Boston-based Fidelity is finalizing a transition plan toreplace Neufeld but has not yet named a new CIO, Loporchiosaid.

Fidelity has lost a number of top executives recently.

This year Peter Smail, who headed its Pyramis GlobalAdvisors institutional investment management business, retired.

Last year Chief Operating Officer Robert Reynolds; EllynMcColgan, who was president of distributions and operations;Stephen Jonas, who had been tapped to overhaul the company’sflagship mutual fund operation; and Jeff Carney, who worked inthe company’s 401(k) business, all left the privately held fundcompany.
