US STOCKS-Market turns up; banks extend Tuesday gains

NEW YORK, April 2 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks turned higher onWednesday, with financial shares extending gains from Tuesday’ssharp rally on signs the worst of the credit crisis may beover.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was up 18.65points, or 0.15 percent, at 12,673.01. The Standard & Poor’s500 Index .SPX was up 5.07 points, or 0.37 percent, at1,375.25.
