A Schulman posts quarterly loss after charges
April 4th, 2008 | by admin |NEW YORK, April 4 (Reuters) - U.S. chemicals maker A.Schulman Inc (SHLM.O: Quote, Profile, Research) on Friday posted a net loss for itsfiscal second quarter, hurt by restructuring and impairmentcharges.
The net loss for the period ended Feb. 29 was $3.8 million,or 13 cents a share, compared with a year-earlier profit of$1.6 million, or 6 cents a share.
Excluding items, the company posted a profit of $7.9million, or 29 cents a share, compared with $3.1 million, or 12cents a share, a year before.
Last month the company hired UBS Investment Bank as anadviser to explore strategic alternatives, after a dissidentshareholder succeeded in getting board representation. (Reporting by Euan Rocha, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
